User ID: 77553885 United States 07/31/2020 03:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | When I was 14 I went to Skid Row in December 2002 on a school/church trip to volunteer at a mission (extra credits man and my new girlfriend was going, what could go wrong!?) The first day they gave us a walking tour of Skid Row, there were tents everywhere for what seemed to be for miles. I was watching people smoke crack and shoot up some sort of dope. A crack whore came up to us and started screaming at us and spat on the ground. We didn’t even know what she was saying and she was speaking English. We went further on the trip and our guide pointed out a small puddle in the street, then warned us to NEVER step in puddles on the street, they’re basically toilets, filled with piss and dissolved feces. Our job at the mission was to help cook and serve food. A lot of the homeless people, which mostly made up men who looked to be in their 40s-60’s (hard to tell, a hard life ages you fast). They would constantly be creepy towards the underage girls that came with us (not going to lie, they were very cute, but they were my age) it was unnerving. Day 2 a man stabbed another in the cafeteria, and Day 4 someone was shot right outside our building, and came in, screaming he’d been shot and was bleeding all over the floor. Never found out if he made it. There was a man who lived at the mission getting sober through a long long process. He has a doctorate in mathematics of some kind, he was a genius. He fell on hard times and got addicted to meth, crack and I believe heroin. By the time he sought help he forgot how to read and write, he was in the process of teaching himself again. Mathematics were no longer no-brainer for him, Instead he was the no-brainer. Very sad. There were also many other men living there trying to get sober again, many of them confessed to us they were convicted murderers..... yeah.... All in all it was an interesting experience, but I don’t think I’ll do it again. Last Edited by Dirk_Diggler on 07/31/2020 03:11 AM |

Thank you for that enlightening post that completely shreds Democrat, liberal and libertarian notions of do as thou whilst. It's just wrong and bad policy. |
