California is not sinking it is rising due to uplift from the subduction zone. That's how the Sierra Nevada mountain range was formed and the Coastal range.
The San Andreas fault moves about 1 inch per year as the Pacific plate goes under the North American plate.
Florida and the Eastern Seaboard is sinking. Florida used to be connected to Cuba and the Bahamas.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79156436 This is basic college level geography/geology stuff, like a 1000/2000 level class about landforms. West coast of US is mostly emergent coastline. East coast of US is mostly submergent coastline. The East coast is only sinking a little bit over time because the far North of North America is still rising from the change in weight of glaciers being gone. The West coast would be sinking like that too except for the way the faults work i.e. pushing it up.
