Yay! congrats :)
This is my first year really using the great garden soil that came with my house (when I bought the they told me that the garden had been amazing), because I can work from home now. It's the first time I really ever grew anything to eat that succeeded.
I've been eating it all. I'm in Southern NJ zone 7b.
So far, radishes, peas, kirby pickles (I've eaten 2-3 kirbies every day for well over a month), zucchini, eggplant and the cherry tomatoes are coming in dribs and drabs with the big boys about to ripen.
I'm going to have watermelon out the wazoo starting next week - so excited. And some pole limas, but not a lot.
It looks like a huge deer or several napped in the corn. We might not get any corn to speak of.
Planting now: 2 types of pumpkins, carrots, turnips, cauliflower and brussel sprouts, spinach and kale.
I am taking notes and planning for next year - this year is just a trial run. I'm going to need potatoes and more legumes, and with a few adjustments and more greens, I think I can eat only out of the garden plus clams (we go clamming a lot in the summer) all summer.
Being home all day and staring at the backyard made me not want the soil it to go to waste. I started everything probably 2 weeks late, but all in all it's doing good.
Next year I'm going to do more incremental plantings, and till even more space.
As a n00b, I can already tell that eating food you grow yourself daily is the way to go. I feel amazing, and so, so proud of myself.
