Just using hardwood to fuel it, if I don't keep an eye on it, the steel begins to soften. Don't need a welder for that. Also, if done correctly, welding can be done with iron oxide (rust) and aluminum powder in the correct quantities and some clay to make a shallow "trough" were the weld is to be made. Aluminum power can be made in a tumbler with steel bearings over many days. Just have to drop back to the "old" technology if necessary. it is good there are people like you who have skills like this! Here is a source for old time technology. Want to cast Iron? Aluminum? Used to read various publications from them way back then. A lot of that type of knowledge has been committed to memory and used often through out the year. Chinese have 3 pt IQ advantage, but most Americans have experiential knowledge they don't. remove the 15% of the population with 85 IQ average and the Whites have an average of 102 IQ. chinese have 105. [link to www.youroldtimebookstore.com (secure)] thanks, will check it out. my eldest sister has my Mom's spinning wheel, but has no interest in it other than decoration, but she is very handy and has fixed plumbing before and other things. always good to have useful books on hand. i tried reading books on a kindle and don't like it, prefer the tactile feel of a book and apparently my eyes do, too. moving a lot of books can be hard though, so i stupidly donated almost all my books to salvation army and thought i would buy digital. |
