Have considered doing so myself, and may yet. Prayer is the most powerful force on earth. “I care not for a man's religion whose dog and cat are not the better for it.” Abraham Lincoln I sign all karma given. Would that those giving it to me followed suit. |

Prayer is the most powerful force on earth. “I care not for a man's religion whose dog and cat are not the better for it.” Abraham Lincoln I sign all karma given. Anonymous Coward User ID: 78424353 United States 08/03/2020 05:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Going the bathroom oughta be a chore! Watch a real video with real people having to put those things away every time you need to use your vehicle. You’ve gotta climb up and stand on your roof to tuck in the tent material properly so nothings sticking out and let rain in. If your tent is wet or damp and you put it away ya got mold! If its bad weather you’re stuck sitting inside tent or sitting in your vehicle. Imagine being up high on a metal rooftop in one of those things in a thunderstorm or very high winds?! Looks sexy but badchoice. |

If they are open all facilities are closed as in no pools or very limited, no bath or laundry open, no activities, etc. Campground nightly prices are going through the roof also. Availability at reasonably priced ones is impossible for months out too. Everything is being destroyed, this wonderful lifestyle too! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 78686355 08/03/2020 05:47 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It looks easy on the surface to try to manage one of those vehicles, but it's not. It's also very expensive. It would not be manageable for me or many solo travelers. It's a nice fantasy, but the bottom line is on the highways there is no substitute for driving a coupe. I have a little emergency bed set up on the backseat, supplies, when I'm on the road I keep water and food. I grab a room and that's it. Many people Van travel with no plumbing in the Van, then use a Planet Fitness membership to wash up and asleep in the lot if they can. That would be how I would deal with sleeping in a vehicle. Bottom line is a regular car is smaller, cheaper to maintain, safer, stays warmer or cooler with no add ons. I don't want to tote around excretions or drive a van. I want to DRIVE. No substitute for a V6 coupe. |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 17892555 United States 08/03/2020 05:54 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I full time in an Airstream. Called my buddy in the dealership on the MS coast the other day regarding a technical issue. As pricey as new ASs are, that dealership has SOLD OUT of new ones. They had a lot full of brand new ones just a few months back.. Gone. He was stunned. He knows my rig and I had mentioned maybe selling it at one point and he was pushing me to see if that was still on my mind. New ones are 100k or so and they cannot keep them in inventory. Quoting: Deplorableduckhunter I believe it |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 78686355 08/03/2020 05:54 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You must sell them; that is total BS. You never buy a new one for starters, unless you have cash to burn. Nobody in their right mind would ever buy one of those super Busses. It's a total waste of money, and extremely expensive to maintain. Not to mention you have to drive the thing. It costs about 200 a day just to keep up basics. Even bands that used to travel in those things are ditching them now for smaller travel vans, then they get hotel rooms. You are better off in a nice luxury vehicle that is safe and functional on the road, then just getting a hotel room. True there are no luxury hotel rooms in much of America, well if dragging around an entire house of shit is that important be my guest. I can cope in a Holiday Inn express for a night. |

So many camping items like Solar Showers/Gas mobile Showers, camping toilets 10L = 150 flushes before needing to be emptied....free at R.V dumping points....Pop up Marquees to use as carports for the car with a tent extension.... Pop Up double tents for shower and toilet.... Theres no need to be around the crazies and homeless when TSHTF. Find a nice secluded spot and you are totally independent of needing gyms etc. |
