The Wilmington, NC radar is picking up on winds of 120 mph ~4000ft off the surface in the NE quad of #Isaias. Standard reduction would put this somewhere in the ballpark of 75-80 knots (85-90 mph), an upper end category 1 hurricane. #Isaias is intensifying in a hurry. #ncwx

Min pressure: 988 mb
Max sustained: 85 mph

yesterday it was 998 mb, so it's gone down 10 mb. That's a significant strengthening.

NEW: Another confirmed tornado in the Wilmington area. This is tornado debris lofted into the air in Leland, NC. This storm has traveled from New Hanover across the Cape Fear River and is still going in Brunswick.

So, hurricane + high tide + full moon = our local news stations non stop coverage 'til maybe noon tomorrow.

I rode out Fran and Floyd few decades ago, both were Cat 1 storms. And I live inland. Was so freakin lucky compared to others. Our area hardest hit due to be in NE quadrant, no power for 3 wks. But farm folks know how to survive.
