When I read His Dark Materials I definitely saw a religious theme to it even though I wasn’t particularly religious. I specifically noticed the books challenging the idea of religious authorities.

I fired up a small old school handheld CB radio to listen for "skip" on the Super Bowl(channel 6). Yes "mother nature" had given the radio guys "conditions" as they say in radio speak. Yes solar flare related.

I could hear many stations out in California from here in Wisconsin. They were talking about how they expected "conditions" for skip contacts to not last long, and they were right. Radio went dead silent just before 12:30pm CST or 10:30am California time.

I have some much better radios with much better antennas, but that was all I was willing to do today. These Small Flares do very little to Earth other than increase long range AM comms and warm the weather a few degrees. The x-class flares coming in back in 2012 were many times more powerful than this recent flare.
