"Test" quote above is because I've been trying to reply for over 30 minutes...and haven't been able to... So...here we are:

WTF...making things even more weird now...and taking the bait that I am a liar (which I am not)...I called back to the number she gave me that I posted and yeah...I get the same annoying "number disconnect or no longer a valid number" recording.

Look, that's the number she had me call, and when I asked her briefly why she didn't just call me directly or have me call her cell, she said she thought it was best if I called that number. I asked her, "What, did you have me call a payphone or something", and she simply responded "Yes". I wasn't going to interrogate her about it, it's the first contact I've had with her that wasn't a social media like or comment in over 6 years.

"Years ago all of them accepted incoming calls. Many small businesses used a coin telephone as their business number. Often the public phone was prominently placed in the public area, with an extension (without a dial) near the businessperson’s area (near the cash register, for example).

In the latter part of the twentieth century, many phone companies disabled incoming service to outdoor phones, so as to discourage them being used for criminal purposes.

Today those few remaining pay phones are no longer owned by the phone company, but by private companies and business owners. Most, with the exception of the type of phone owned by the business itself, will not accept incoming calls.

If you want to call one that accepts incoming calls, just dial the number as usual."
