They had winter homes and summer homes. They went back and forth to their different homes.

I was just cogitating...if there REALLY ARE asteroids coming...they would most likely start shutting down nuke power plants.

You might not be far from the truth. I'm not sure how one would go about investigating it. Most likely the high tension power lines leading away from the plant would still be energized from other sources if the plant were shut down. But if that segment were switched off and dead then in theory a simple fluorescent light bulb should be able to tell.

Side note Louis- I was just in your city last week. Shameful what has been destroyed there.

We could tell by power outages and perhaps total grid failure. There are still nat-gas & coal plants working...but if all the nuke plants were off-line then power outages would certainly happen as soon as it gets hot and everybody turned on their AC.

My big worry now is supply chain problems and the beating the grid is getting on the East Coast right now. The transformers and other parts that are in inventory might be slow to put back into stock once they go out.

Give a few more months of hurricanes and when we move into winter we might not have parts to fix the grid. It's gonna suuuuuck.
