Lebanon’s President Michel Aoun has called for a two-week state of emergency in Beirut following a huge explosion that claimed more than a hundred lives, injured thousands more and sent seismic shockwaves through the capital, with the country’s top defense body describing Beirut as a “disaster-stricken” city.

Lebanon’s Supreme Defense Council headed by President Aoun held an emergency meeting at the Baabda presidential palace in the early hours of Wednesday.

Following the session, a statement by the council, read live on television, said Aoun had decided to release 100 billion Lebanese pounds in emergency allocations from the 2020 budget.

The council also recommended that a committee be tasked with investigating the blast and present its findings within five days to mete out the maximum punishment for those responsible.

It further suggested declaring Beirut a “disaster-stricken” city, announcing a two-week state of emergency in the capital and handing over security responsibility to military authorities.

Ammonium nitrate decomposes to water vapour and nitrous oxide. It will burn but not explode.. it can be made to decompose explosively if you put enough percussive energy into it.. some videos show something tumbling on an arced trajectory, which hits just b4 the detonation. ??

On YouTube there is a video of Afghan forces detonating 2 kiloton's of ammonium nitrate, a second video of the US army doing the same. Neither looks remotely like this blast.

If this is 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate, it would need to be stored in one barrel to see a uniform explosion right?! Wouldn’t hundreds of barrels explode a few seconds, one after another. So there wouldn’t be a uniform explosion like we saw? Who has a tank that can hold that much of one chemical in a port?

Yeah, the perfect bubble makes the official story seem unlikely. In all the videos I've seen outside of military bombs there isn't uniformity in the explosion like that (not one that size). There is a photo of dozens of very large bags of fertilizer at the port on Twitter though.

Ammonium Nitrate (AN) alone is NOT A BOMB. It must be mixed with fuel oil (FO) in just the right ratios and stored as a mixture in an enclosed space and DETONATED ...as an ANFO bomb (which was NOT used at OKC, btw...)

complete devastation. And some official said half of Beirut is destroyed. They count the found bodies, not the missing people. Even if the ammonium nitrate was controlled exploded, as you explain, it would not make such devastation. Let alone where would they store so much ammonium nitrate.

The official theory is made for idiots, and sorry but we are not such even if the citizens of Lebanon are considered such by their own leaders.

Why would the Arabs hide behind such a nonsense theory? Out of fear or there is something else?

Now Lebanon is asking for international aid. The explosion destroyed the country's main grain elevators at the port, putting the country's food supply in jeopardy. The situation was bad before the explosion. Now it's dire.
