They are doing something similar at my local library. The books are quarantined for 72 hours after being returned. All staff and patrons must wear face masks in the library and patrons are only allowed in the library for an hour a day and must leave after their hour is up. That means no hanging around the library for hours for some retired people chatting with the librarians and their friends. The government sure knows how to suck the joy out of life.

it's happening and has been happening for years. Libraries are like public skools.

How Libraries purge books under your nose:

They run a report off the software. They chose the date last checked out...ie: 1 year, 2 years or 3, whatever suits their fancy.

They hand a list to a clerk, clerk pulls the book, and it is then discharged to be recycled in the recycle bin. Town picks up, and boom, books are gone. Recycled.

Now, 90% of these librarians are coming out of communist universities, backed by communists in the ALA.
