"How much do Medicare beneficiaries pay for COVID-19 treatment?

Beneficiaries who are admitted to a hospital for treatment of COVID-19 would be subject to the Medicare Part A deductible of $1,408 per benefit period in 2020 ($1,484 in 2021). Part A also requires daily copayments for extended inpatient hospital and SNF stays. For extended hospital stays, beneficiaries would pay a $352 copayment per day (days 61-90) and $704 per day for lifetime reserve days ($371 and $742 in 2021, respectively). If a patient is required to be quarantined in the hospital, even if they no longer meet the need for acute inpatient care and would otherwise by discharged, they would not be required to pay an additional deductible for quarantine in a hospital. Traditional Medicare beneficiaries who need post-acute care following a hospitalization would face copayments of $176 per day for extended days in a SNF (days 21-100) ($185.50 in 2021)." It looks like we are financially Ok if we are in hospital for less than 61 days?

Another ...RED ALERT...?!

I am thinking about the problem of the vaccines having the spike and making prions... and WHY the Chinese would vaccinate their own if they knew..

This is the literature I have found about Sinovac/Coronavac.
They are INACTIVATED viruses.
Remember, the prion-genesis site is at position 500 on the spike, well within the S1 domain.

Below, the literature shows the S1 protein is cleaved off in the inactivated virus vaccines!

[link to www.biorxiv.org (secure)]
Both Moderna’s mRNA-1273 and Pfizer’s BNT162b2 (7) encodes full length S with two mutations to stabilise the prefusion conformation (8), and Sinovac’s CoronaVac inactivated virus vaccine presents the wild-type S on the viral surface (9), although the majority of spikes are in the postfusion conformation (10).

[link to www.ndm.ox.ac.uk (secure)]
The Architecture of Inactivated SARS-CoV-2 with Postfusion Spikes Revealed by Cryo-EM and Cryo-ET.
Although a small fraction of prefusion spikes are found, most spikes appear nail shaped, thus resembling a postfusion state, where the S1 protein of the spike has disassociated from S2

[link to www.cell.com (secure)]
There is consensus that the engagement of the S1 RBD with the receptor destabilizes the trimer, triggering the shedding of the S1 units, which allows a remarkable conformational change in the spike from a large club-shaped structure into a thin and long nail-like structure.

The context of how this question arose... it's IMPORTANT!

Lago, Darth:

it's definitely worth considering the likelihood that 'big pharma' has simply made a mistake.

They have all modelled the vaccines on the spike, not knowing the virus is likely an escaped bioweapon.

Pharma usually models vaccines on the spike because it is usually a very stable portion of the a-a sequence.. for a naturally evolved virus.. (which this probably isn't!).

So, China pursues the 'holy grail' of biowarfare - a slow-acting prion-genesis site in the spike, masked by a flu-like, hyper-infectious first phase.

Pharma then compounds the problem by (predictably) doing what they do, making a vaccine based on the spike.

China, meanwhile, exerts influence over the media, politicians, scientific advisors, etc. and starts to coerce the population to take the shot.

I'm scared thinking this could be what's up.

Israeli data shows South African variant able to ‘break through’ Pfizer vaccine

The South African variant of the coronavirus is notably more adept at “breaking through” the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine than other variants are, Israeli scientists have found, in a first-of-its-kind real-world study.

Israel has used the Pfizer vaccine almost exclusively to vaccinate millions of citizens, with a version by Moderna, based on similar innovative mRNA technology, used minimally.

A team from Tel Aviv University and the Clalit healthcare organization sequenced the swabs of 150 Israelis who tested positive for COVID-19 despite having been vaccinated.

In their study, the prevalence of the South African strain among vaccinated individuals who were infected despite their inoculation was eight times higher than its prevalence in the unvaccinated infected population. Though the number of such infections among the vaccinated was relatively small, the findings indicated that this variant was far more successful in getting through vaccinated individuals’ defenses than other strains.

“Based on patterns in the general population, we would have expected just one case of the South African variant, but we saw eight,” Prof. Adi Stern, who headed the research, told The Times of Israel. “Obviously, this result didn’t make me happy.”

Maybe everyone is aware of this site. I was, but had never went to it before, but it has some good Covid information sources on it.

It is the John Hopkins Corona Virus Resource Center.

There is a really good one minute statistical update revived daily that gives the current information on US and general world cases. It has been posted in the past. It is called "Data In Motion."

Also, they have a 30-minute recap of the weekly Covid trends in the United States on Fridays. They do discuss vaccines, but I did not feel like they unnecessarily pushed them. I watched the one from Friday, April 9, 2021 and they commented on the B-117 variant. Remember, that was the one they locked down Britain for back in December. It is now the dominant strain in America. They know it is here, but they do not know how many actual cases there are of the B-117 variant in the United States. I thought that was surprising because of the reaction from Britain that the United States would not be more on top of it. I don't really know if they have an actual test for it yet.
 Quoting: La Listener

Yeah that's the genomic surveillance/genomic sequencing you're referring to. The U.S. is really lagging behind in that compared to some other countries. There has been some more funding put in to that to try and improve the surveilance of variants but from what I've read it's going to take a while for it to get up to a decent level. They need to train a lot more people for one thing.

4 months of lockdown is coming to an end for many in the UK

England's shops, hairdressers, gyms and pub gardens will reopen on Monday

Non-essential stores, such as home and fashion chains, will reopen in Wales as well as England on Monday, although those in Scotland need to wait until April 26. Pubs and restaurants will only be able to serve outdoors from Monday, although early rules requiring meals to be served with drinks and curfews have been scrapped. Indoor service will not be allowed until May 17 at the earliest.

Re: COVID-19 News, Info, Discussion /// Tracking the Spread of the Virus and its Effects /// October Lockdown for UK (pg. 774)
