Unexpected. The WHO recommends that people shouldn't need to provide proof of vaccination if they want to travel internationally.

Maybe it's a reverse psychology tactic since they know many people don't trust the WHO?

India finally on UK's red list

Boris cancelled his India trip today and only NOW is the UK putting India on the red list. So pretty much the fact India wasn't on the red list before now (when they should have been) is because the UK Gov didn't want Boris having bad PR, looking like a hypocrit when it was still expected that the India trip would go ahead. The importance of people's health comes second to PR...

Yeah, need to keep an eye on test positivity rate. That's making significant gains, disproportionately so compared to the cases... which usually is a tell tale sign that there is an issue with the testing, and there are more infections out there that haven't been picked up.

Worse. This is brain drain because a human must always be in the drivers seat with hands on the wheel. This is brain drain reporting too.

And worse.... the brain drain is leaking into other parts of life.... software engineering.... the next upgrades are gonna suck eggs.

In India people have been eating HCQ and Ivermectin tablets like M&Ms for the past 12 months. This also forced COVID to mutate like crazy.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80259145

Agreed. But. It’s also the hygiene and density factors. Sars doc 2 is a mutation beast without extra help.
 Quoting: CleverCreator

Ah yes, those density factors. Dharavi slum in Mumbai is just over 2.1 square kilometers and has a population of about a million. So.... that is about 718,000 per square mile. New Yorks density, which seemed pretty busy (times square) is about 1/30 as dense at about 27,000 people per square mile. Social distancing in a slum is a complete joke. They were practically climbing over each other when I was there. The public toilets were extremely filthy. Mahim creek is the local river that is widely used for urination and defecation causing the spread of contagious diseases. Fun times. We stayed at the Oberoi hotel, Mumbai and it was like living on a different planet (refrigerated cutlery, two waiters per person, live music at breakfast, air conditioned hotel cars --a real rarity back then in India).

I don’t disagree. But that goes to soooooo many more issues.

It means case counts and deaths are way worse.

Unfortunately....this keeps going around the world.... because even if one or two countries block one or two other countries..... we are still all connected via other vectors.

You should have warned them about the water.....

Western states, including Colorado, prepare for possible 1st water shortage declaration
The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation released 24-month projections this week forecasting that less Colorado River water will cascade down from the Rocky Mountains through Lake Powell and Lake Mead

Less than 50%

The agency’s models project Lake Mead will fall below 1,075 feet (328 meters) for the first time in June 2021. That’s the level that prompts a shortage declaration under agreements negotiated by seven states that rely on Colorado River water: Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.

It makes sense now why India announced today they are making the vaccine available to everyone instead of prioritizing certain groups... because the Indian variant is making everyone ill...

This Indian variant definitely has P1(Brazil) vibes to it... increased severity for the younger folks.

Young and infected: Covid-19's new patients as India battles huge surge

...an alarming number of young Indians, including children, falling victim to the new coronavirus wave sweeping the country.

...in hospitals, doctors started warning of a rise in cases, including a new phenomenon -- younger patients -- for a disease usually viewed as riskier for older adults.

ndia's medical research agency does not have a demographic breakdown of cases, but doctors in major cities confirmed that more young patients are coming to hospitals.

We are also seeing children under the ages of 12 and 15 being admitted with symptoms in the second wave. Last year there were practically no children, said Khusrav Bajan, a consultant at Mumbai's P.D. Hinduja National Hospital and a member of Maharashtra's Covid-19 taskforce.

In Gujarat state, pulmonologist Amit Dave said young people were experiencing increased severity from coronavirus for their lungs, hearts and kidneys.

The entire adult population of San Marino, which claims to be the world's oldest republic, will be able to book their covid vaccine from 12 April, the same day that restaurants and bars reopen at night.
