This chart looks at how many doses administered per 100 people. Until now there have only been vaccines with a two-dose regimen that have been approved. In other words with this current chart 200 doses per 100 people would represent a population that has been fully vaccinated.

Taking a look at Israel, how far along are they in their vaccination program? They're closer to the end than the start in my opinion. First, there aren't vaccines approved for 0-16 year olds, and that segment of their population is quite substantial compared to Western countries. Second, people who intend to refuse the vaccine in Israel for personal reasons is not a small number. I calculate that once they reach around 120 doses per 100 people, or so, they will have reached the end of their vaccination program. So they're about two thirds of the way there at the moment -- 80 doses per 100 people with another 40 remaining. By the end of March they should have reached that stage. Whatsmore I think nearly all of their vac supply is the mRNA one, so it'll be interesting to see in the coming months if Israel returns to normality or not.

New Variant detected in Finland temporarily named Fin-796H. Finnish experts who detected variant called combination of mutations 'unique'.

However, Taru Meri, from Vita Laboratories, told local media in Finland today: 'Details about the infectivity and potential resistance of this strain to vaccines are not yet known.

Until the spread of the virus is stopped... there's always the chance of potentially problematic mutations. Some say that after the vaccine rollout is complete 'living' with the virus is the way to go. I'm not so sure.

Okay so nothing is confirmed yet on how the new Finland variant differs from older variants. But based on the observed mutations it's suspected it *might* be

- more infectious
- escape immune response
- less able to be detected by some PCR tests

Yep. Plus many countries are seeing infections reduce naturally right now... but it's nothing to do with the vaccines it's just the usual ebb and flow that comes with this pandemic. Let's see that study be conducted again in Israel in a couple of months when the next wave starts and they have some of the dodgy variants circulating.

UK's health secretary acted unlawfully when his department did not reveal details of contracts it had signed during the Covid pandemic, a court has ruled.

A judge said the health secretary "breached his legal obligation" by not publishing details within 30 days of contracts being signed.

The public had a right to know where the "vast" amounts spent had gone and how contracts were awarded, he added.
