I wonder if the pandemic is waning.
No other variant was able to replace delta until now.
In Europe (not in US yet) covid cases decrease nearly everywhere.
Usuallly, we had the graphic of a new wave, here on this forum, 1 ou 2 months before it was on the news channel.
Any hints on a next wave ?

waves are not the same everywhere. locally, we are at the start of wave 2.i don't count the cases from the nursing homes in the beginning since they were seeded and never made it into community spread. now that schools opened at the startt of SEPT,expect many places to b in full climb for a while.

i did re-read my predictions for AUG,never wrote SEPT's due to my lockout ban. the lateness of covid getting to many of the Pacific Island countries still gives me reason to think a new variant can and should happen there.

all eyes from the news are on vax the ppl. nobody is watching for the next train. lot of hush hush and cover up what the vax causes too.been getting quieter all summer.a varient can happen and b more wide spread before word gets out.

virus is not waning but news of it is. ppl are tired of hearing bout it and trying to act like life is normal. don't let your guard down yet. just cause the burglar got quiet does not mean he ain't still in the house ready to rob u.

2020 The SHTF literally as TP ran out.

we went from being over the target, to actually being the target. too close to the truth.

if i had a dollar for everytime someone says "merge" without using the word, i'd b so green i'd b King of Mars.

Hey, Texan

Thanks so much for asking. My mom is definitely more comfortable than a week ago, though we are having trouble finding good caregivers. I'm a stressed out wreck from all the nonstop coordinating I've had to do in addition to my job, and I suspect it will be a very, very long semester.

I do worry about my friends -- the ones who are going back to life as it used to be. Truly, I hate missing things, too.... I had concert tickets before the pandemic, but am going to just eat the cost and not go to the rescheduled events (or, if I have intrepid friends, I'll pass them along to someone who wants the tickets). As much as I miss live music, the risk isn't at all worth it to me - and especially now, with my mom so sick and needing me there with her, that's just not in the realm of reality.

There may come a day in the future when I decide to take more risks, but certainly not now. It does seem Covid is here to stay, though, and any venturing out into the world will be a matter of weighing risk vs. benefit.

I think I am probably going to be a refuser with the booster shots, given what a hard time I had after dose #2. I imagine that means I'm on my way to being a barely-human-non-citizen in the eyes of the establishment, but so be it. We are still not sure whether the second dose had anything to do with my mom going downhill so quickly ... but she mentioned, again, that she thinks perhaps it did.
 Quoting: Doommonkey

I'm glad to hear she's doing a bit better. I know it's hard on you, too. My bil has been having the same trouble as you. He can't keep caregivers that actually will do the work they were hired to do for his mom and stepdad. He's been staying with them alot. It isn't helping his health out much either.

I've decided I don't much care what the rest of the world thinks about whether I take the shots or not. I'm still waiting to hear from the nephrologist's office. It's my understanding that there is no chance of dialysis without the shots, so I don't know what will happen there. Seems to me the odds are pretty much the same. It'll come down to which of 3 options will give me the most usable time. If I take the shots, will I survive them? If I do that and get dialysis, how long will I have? At my age, it's usually only a few years. If I don't do either, how long and how much more pain? Even if I was eligible for transplant, I don't want it. I've lived my life, for the most part. It should go to a young person. Mr. TB doesn't like that I feel this way, but I can't help it. He won't talk with me about it. If they fail like they did the last time, I won't even know.

I miss live music, too. My little town actually has an amazing orchestra! They are top notch! They've had a few outdoor concerts, but we've been to them before and they're very crowded! It was fun then, not so much now. I'd love to hear them again, though.

If you need to talk, just pm me. I don't mind and it'll give me something to think about instead of my own pity party.
 Quoting: Texan Buckeye

Thanks so much, TB. I wish I had an answer for you regarding the shots. I am certain that they are a lot riskier than we are being led to believe, and that is based on me following the data pretty closely, as well as a lot of anecdotal reports and personal experience. On the other hand, if you need dialysis, that's a very pressing matter. This is just one place where these mandates make absolutely NO sense ... there are good reasons why vulnerable people might not be able to tolerate the vax, and those are the people most in need of care!

Honestly, I'm a bit worried about the effect of all this stress on my health, too. I'm having to put those worries to the side ... but I know how badly my immune system crashed after my partner's stroke, and I don't want that to happen again. Add to that the necessity to be in face to face contact with a whole lot of healthcare people, and it honestly is pretty frightening. If my health goes down, there is nobody there to care for my mom.
Looks like freedom but it feels like death. It's something in between I guess... it's closing time.

I've started saying that I'm still laughing and bitching! As long as I'm still doing both, I'm still good. I know from experience that when I stop doing both, that's when to worry.

I don't expect the docs to wave a magic wand and make it all better. They can't. What I'm hoping for is them to be honest with me and tell me what to expect and what to do, if anything. It reversed itself the last time, I'm hoping it will again. If it doesn't, it won't be for lack of trying. I still have a few things on my bucket list that are possible.

Regarding the shots & danger to life.

Well, obviously what follows is not going to describe any non-fatal injury, (TB - we know spikes DO attack kidneys)... but mortality-wise, we had an update from Public Health Scotland..

[link to publichealthscotland.scot (secure)]

A total of 5903 deaths within 28d of vaccination.
Thats 5903 since last December - i.e. the whole vaccination campaign.
Scotland has about 5.7m people, and about 4m have had at least 1 dose, 3.5m had two.

Most (~2/3) of the doses were AstraZeneca, followed by Pfizer (~1/3) in 2nd place. Hardly anyone had Moderna.

So, we could conclude that a MAXIMUM of 5903/4000000 died from the vaccine, and likely a bit less.

I suppose we can say:
The Vaccine 28d Mortality Maximum value: 0.15%.

Of course, that's within 28 days and who knows what lurks.
I'm not taking it.. they're leaky and wane dangerously.

Hi, S-man. I know about the spikes. That's why I won't take the shots. I'm afraid it'll cause a cascading failure.

My kidney problems started as a child and have gone bad in the last 10 years. The mess caused by the virus has just made it more difficult to get even basic health care. I will most likely be one of the many that die because of it, but not from it. No one ever promised us immortality.

Just an interesting observation. I am covering the Covid Narrative in my analytical writing class, and having my students look at all the contradicting reports, as well as engage in some meaningful data analysis.

One of my students asked me after class if her paper would be confidential, or if members of the school board would see it .... I assured her it was absolutely confidential, and that she was free to write her honest thoughts, whether or not they are in agreement with what I might think is true.

She is vaccine-hesitant, due to being pregnant, and was AFRAID to put that in writing, due to it being a position that could be seen as contrarian, or worse! It horrifies me that my students find themselves in a position where they are honestly afraid to think for themselves and express their opionions!

I know I am stepping somewhat out on a limb by even covering this, but I'm not advocating for any particular narrative ... I'm advocating for critical thought, which is MY JOB. Scary ass world we live in.

The thing that is SO worrisome is until the shots, pregnant women were ALWAYS told to avoid so many things, especially a long list of medications. I don't blame that young mom at all for being hesitant. Tell her she knows in her heart what she should do. Mama's know somehow.

I think there a lot of people that feel just like your students, DM. Good for you for giving them a safe outlet for discussion.

The annual death rate for Scotland in 2019 was 57,691. Divide that by 12 months. = 4807/months. 28 days is roughly a month.

So in your 28 days, all but a thousand would have died anyway. But you want to blame a vaccine. You don't know what you are doing.

IT's called vaccination. Remember the mass injections of the ebola vaccine occur just about every year in that part of the world - degading, destroying, and priming for new outbreaks.
