While at the same time, Diffster didn't say the spike shedding is actually what happened in this particular case, he was just passing on someone's anecdote.... which is one reason why this thread exists -- to share anecdotes.

I don't know enough about this spike shedding theory to have a view on it myself, but I do know there are legit concerns that people have about a vaccine which has been rushed through the trial stages...
