I am super behind on this thread, and will try to catch up later this evening.

It's clear that shit is starting to hit the fan in the US, and CA is on its way to being a big hot-spot again.

I'm continuing to isolate as much as I can, and I mask up when I go out. Since my pharmacy is no longer requiring masks (and there were a lot of unmasked folks in there when I went in last) I think I will start double-masking again when I need to go to an indoor setting.

Some of my friends think I am being paranoid, and I may end up losing some friendships over this ... but so be it.

I'm very glad that immunocompromised groups (transplant patients, cancer patients, others) are starting to speak out in greater numbers. It may still fall on deaf ears, but for those who listen, it might drive home the fact that there are MILLIONS of immuncompromised folks out there who are not housebound, not in nursing homes, etc., and who would love to be able to have something of a normal life. Having shit tons of unmasked carriers running around makes that nearly impossible.

I've scheuled an antibody test a week from Friday, which should show whether I developed any antibodies to the vax (specifically, to the spike protein, which is what I would develop if the vaccine worked on me.)

I don't really know what to expect from that. I reacted to both shots, and the second one really hit me hard. I'm finally (3 weeks later) starting to feel a bit more normal (my normal, that is) -- but that doesn't mean the vaccine worked. It may just have kicked up my chronic issues, and otherwise been ineffective.

At least I will have a test result to haul out in my own defense if I didn't make antibodies. I've found that people are a lot more likely to believe you if you have a test result to back up what you are saying ... and if I don't have antibodies, I can use that to support my need for disability accomodations at work (meaning working remotely.) I don't think I would have gotten very far if I tried claiming the medical vax exemtption ... but if I can show that I got vaxxed, and it didn't work, then they are treading on dangerous ground if they don't accomodate me. Sometimes the ADA is a very good thing.
