The fairy tales of the magical infallible vaccine continue in the US.

BIDEN: “If you’re vaccinated, you’re not going to be hospitalized, you’re not going to be in the IC unit, and you’re not going to die.”

North Tees hospital boss issues warning over North East Covid rates

A HOSPITAL boss has warned the pandemic remains a "massive problem" as hospital admissions continue to surge just days after almost all restrictions were lifted.

The medical director at North Tees and Hartlepool Foundation Trust issued a warning as he said surging case rates across the region were beginning to impact admissions.

He said the number of patients had gone from zero to 35 in just a fortnight as he revealed the majority of patients are young or middle-aged.

It comes as the Government was last night urged to act as shocking figures showed eight of ten areas in the North East had the highest rates in England.

Waning immunity? In Israel people who were received their shots earlier in the year are seemingly becoming infected more often than those who received shots later in the year.

Oh. Vaccine didn't eliminate long covid.

Twenty-nine-year-old Callum O'Dwyer caught the virus at the start of the UK lockdown in March 2020.

I was in my flat alone and my breathlessness was so bad I was just sitting in my armchair and I was gasping for air, he told The Drum from Scotland.

I was dropping plates that I was cleaning because I was so weak, I couldn't really pick up my phone to message people.

It's been nearly 16 months since then. He believes the vaccination helped somewhat, but his chronic fatigue has never gone away — and he has not worked since.

A study from University of Oxford and Imperial College London looked at brain scans before and after catching COVID, and found significant effects of COVID-19 in the brain.

This included grey matter loss in different parts of the brain, which is understood to impact information processing.

They are symptoms Callum knows well — he reports experiencing brain fog regularly.

"It is like inheriting the brain of an old man.'

Masks do work if pretty much everyone wears them? Although this study was before the Delta variant. Australia is currently having some difficulties in containing cases vs Delta.

World-first study shows effectiveness of masks in preventing COVID transmission

The mandating of masks during Melbourne’s COVID-19 second wave in July 2020 was the single-most important control measure and “turned the epidemic around”, new world-leading Burnet Institute research shows.

The study, published in the journal PLOS ONE, highlights the effectiveness and critical importance of masks as a key tool to prevent community spread of the highly infectious Delta variant in Australia and globally.

...

The study utilised thousands of images from The Age newspaper photo library of Melbourne community settings which showed mask usage rose from 43 percent before 22 July, to 97 percent after.

This matched almost perfectly with survey data from the SCRUB study led by collaborators at Monash University where, three days before the policy change, 44 percent of participants reported ‘often’ or ‘always’ wearing masks, compared to 100 percent ‘always’ four days after masks were made mandatory.

Vaccine PILLS?

Israel is about to become the first country in the world to test an oral COVID-19 vaccine, Oramed Pharmaceuticals CEO Nadav Kidron told The Jerusalem Post.

Oravax already completed GMP manufacturing in Europe of several thousand capsules that would be available for the Israeli trial and eventually in other countries.

The new Oravax vaccine candidate targets three structural proteins of the novel coronavirus, as opposed to the single spike protein targeted via the current Moderna and Pfizer vaccines, Kidron said. As such, “this vaccine should be much more resistant to COVID-19 variants,” he said.

Scotland

THE number of people aged over 60 requiring hospital treatment for Covid-19 has tripled in a month, new figures from Public Health Scotland show.

The data, published yesterday, revealed that there were nearly as many admissions of fully vaccinated patients as unvaccinated patients in Scotland’s hospitals last week.

How did the usa get to over 58,000 cases so quickly? The delta is potent and this is extremely frightening how bad it got so fast.

Mentions bone marrow. Is this related to the MK cells stuff, CC?

Study may help explain low oxygen levels in COVID-19 patients

U of A researchers find SARS-CoV-2 infects immature red blood cells, reducing oxygen in the blood and impairing immune response

The researchers found that, as the disease became more severe, more immature red blood cells flooded into blood circulation, sometimes making up as much as 60 per cent of the total cells in the blood. By comparison, immature red blood cells make up less than one per cent, or none at all, in a healthy individual's blood.

Immature red blood cells reside in the bone marrow and we do not normally see them in blood circulation, Elahi explained. This indicates that the virus is impacting the source of these cells. As a result, and to compensate for the depletion of healthy immature red blood cells, the body is producing significantly more of them in order to provide enough oxygen for the body.

The problem is that immature red blood cells do not transport oxygen--only mature red blood cells do. The second issue is that immature red blood cells are highly susceptible to COVID-19 infection. As immature red blood cells are attacked and destroyed by the virus, the body is unable to replace mature red blood cells--which only live for about 120 days--and the ability to transport oxygen in the bloodstream is diminished.

These findings are exciting but also show two significant consequences," Elahi said. "First, immature red blood cells are the cells being infected by the virus, and when the virus kills them, it forces the body to try to meet the oxygen supply requirements by pumping more immature red blood cells out of the bone marrow. But that just creates more targets for the virus.

Second, immature red blood cells are actually potent immunosuppressive cells; they suppress antibody production and they suppress T-cell immunity against the virus, making the entire situation worse. So in this study, we have demonstrated that more immature red blood cells means a weaker immune response against the virus.

Bone marrow functions. And MK cells are technically a form of bone marrow. So the marrow itself is working overtime and sending itself to other places instead of doing its proper job function.
