Well for one I don’t need to have a need. You see in the United States we are endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights. Mainly life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The 2nd amendment of the constitution ensures that all of the other RIGHTS are not infringed upon.

now for practical reasons I own several firearms that are designed for different purposes. A shotgun for small game like rabbits, squirrels, various game birds etc. Several high powered rifles for larger game Lilke deer, elk, moose, etc. Then I have my AR-15 for varmints like coyotes and wild hogs. Etc. . I have a couple of handguns for self- defense purposes but in reality hand guns are a last resort to fight your way to a rifle.

You see the premise of your question is a fallacy because you incorrectly state the the purpose of a gun is to kill people. A firearm is simply a tool, much like a hammer or wrench. It is the intent of the user as to what the purpose of the tool is. I can kill you with a hammer if I wished but it is not the most efficient tool a firearm is more efficient. You should always use the tool that is designed for the job or that is the most efficient.
Hope you get it now but I somehow doubt that that is the case.
