He opened the door all gangster style and stepped out there. Anyone with any brains knows you don’t open the door in Phoenix unless you KNOW WHO IS OUT THERE. I live here and not a safe city in a lot of parts. The police here are good and they care. They unfortunately are up against a lot of bad characters and this guys stupidity and macho brainless moves got him killed. Also lack of sleep can kill a person and losing their job over it can make you insane.
He said “I can say it if it makes you get here quicker” so he was basically telling them no to physical. It was in direct quotes. So the dispatcher may be at a little fault.

Living in phoenix I can say, Yes, you need a gun as a citizen, and you should be armed at home at all times.. Yes, we need cops, and with all the cartel murders, kidnappings, and criminal violence I understand why cops are so jumpy. Though, rushing outside with it, not knowing who is outside, is pretty stupid..Equally, shooting him in the back when he was obviously surrendering was very cowardess..

The best thing I can say from this is, Apartments are disease... Expensive, small..Cant see whos in the hallway... One way in and out.. Neighbors constantly annoying, or complaining.. Cops profiling anyone living in them as scum.

But lets point out the elephant in the room... He was white, so this doesnt matter.

These cops are way too nervous.I wonder if the cop that killed that guy has any remorse at all about what he did.

Remove the door of a microwave oven, override the interlock, and place it against the wall, floor, or ceiling facing the neighbor's abode and let it run for hours at the 100% power setting.

Of course I do not advocate this, but one must know how to avail themselves to any and all means of relief from an untenable situation.

once again , because no one has ever impersonated the police in order to rob someone ,
what planet do you idiots come from , the article said the police moved to the side so he couldn't view them through the peep hole, not only that police uniforms are easily attainable, and have been used in car jacking ,robberies galore . I myself would not have even opened the door util i called and confirmed they were in fact police outside my door , that is what he should have done , then answered the door with no gun

I dont understand. The police have been given an opportunity to shine right now. They can shine through all the turmoil and prove to us they are what we hoped they were, but they haven't. They keep treating us like the enemy and further disenfranchising the populace. I hope they can start proving they are friend and not foe soon. I feel that the future of the country depends on it.

What a bunch of heroes. Blind a guy with a flashlight and then when he comes out and realizes it is cops and drops to his knees then quickly yell "drop it" and then immediately shoot him in the back.

They cuffed a family of adolescent girls and sprawled them out on their stomachs on the hot pavement and pointed guns at them for an incorrect car theft report the other day. I think one of them was 6 years old - a real threat!

Exactly. Anyone who would think this cop isn’t going to be affected the rest of his life is ignorant. We are all human. And we all make mistakes. This was ultimately the poor Dead guys fault though. Sad as it is.

He didnt know they were cops.... I never heard them announce they were cops until after..... If they would have said once - Police open the door as they were knocking - it is likely he would have put it away before opening.

As I said above. The Neighbor is a a horrible human being. The cops here need better procedure.

Now on a side note, I have had PD come to my door before. I ALWAYS look before I open the door. As the time they showed up I was armed as well. As soon as I saw PD through peep hole - I disarmed.
