If I knocked on someones door at 2 in the morning I would be fully expecting them to be armed when they answered the door and I would be respectful of that RIGHT, and I would not be frightened one bit. I've been around armed people my entire life.

Opening the door with a gun in hand is: brandishing a weapon. Which is illegal.

He was not shot because he answered the door with a gun (he could have been but that is not what happened). He was shot because he had a gun and stepped out belligerently towards the cops. He scared them. They reacted.

It didn't say it in the story but I'll go out on the ole limb and say I bet he was a serial offender that maybe even took pride in not bein told what to do on his rented property owned by someone else. Noisy apartment dwellers are a special breed and seem to have a 13 yr old stuck in their head that thinks they have a right to force others to listen to their shit at all hours of the night and day.

This is a clear cut case of a coward murdering a guy because he knew he'd skate. He had a gun.

One thing is for sure, there is not a situation you can think of where calling the police will decrease the odds of someone being murdered or grievously assaulted. No one can possibly deny this. And to me that means we have a very serious problem.

There's not a situation you can think of where calling the police is going to result in a better outcome than had they never been involved.
