20 years later I look back on my life and realize alcoholism is a chemical addiction and trying to quit is no different than trying to quit heroine or meth.

This song, although not specifically about heroin addiction makes me think that the author and members of Soundgarden had addiction issues and alcohol addiction falls closely to that of heroin addiction.

When I listened to it as an alcoholic I didn’t realize my addiction was not much different than heroin addiction but it is almost the same.

For anyone battling alcohol addiction I suggest AA meetings everyday for 6 months. Then every other day for six months. Then twice a week for six months. Then once a week for 10 years. Then as needed.

I also suggest giving your soul to Jesus Christ.

Ask for his forgiveness.

And prey this prayer every night;

“Thank you God for another day. Thank you God for another day without alcohol. Please let me get through tomorrow without alcohol. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen”.

We as a nation need to sober up if we expect to survive another 200 years.

Alcohol and drugs will be our downfall and you are part of it if you are a still sick and suffering addict unwilling to find sobriety.
