Since When did High Schools and Universities begin Fall Classes in EARLY August ??

Never. School begins in mid/late august.

it could be an attempt to make up for the spring semester that was cut short.

nevertheless, its weird to talk of school in late july, early august.

It's stranger still that they are finding kids testing positive for covid after one day of school...i have been led to believe that test results for covid take a couple of weeks.

so the University I went to long ago just started classes TODAY 10 Aug

in 2015 and 2016 , they started the last few days of August , as the first full week of classes ended with a football game

DURING MY LIFETIME IT WAS ALWAYS AFTER LABOR DAY, USUALLY THE FIRST WEEK OF SEPTEMBER.

BUT I DON'T PAY MUCH ATTENTION TO THE PAST BECAUSE THAT SHIP HAS SAILED.

Since Florida! Schools always began in August

Here in Florida (I'm in Central Florida) it's always been the last week in August. That changed within the last couple of weeks with the start date moving up for all public schools to August 10. I know several people (teachers and parents) who were completely caught off guard by the sudden change.

Some private schools followed the public school change, some start tomorrow, August 12, and my child's school is starting August 24.

I remember going back to school for one week and then Bam,Labor Day...
This always came off as wierd to me and thats why I remember it from 40 years ago

I’m in Nebraska and it used to be like you said, but they’ve been inching it back into August for years now, and shrinking the summer! We had a solid 3 months off when I was in school, thankfully! Those 3 months were needed, and they went fast.

This year, students were slated to begin 8/12 and end on 5/20/21.

Nope. We don't live in a centralized nation.

School districts can start when they wish.

I don't know about colleges but our school added extra days to the year incase they have to close it for covid. Here you have to go to school a certain number of days. If they don't have to close they will take days off at the end of the year.

Child of the 80s. In the midwest public schools would start the first week of September and some the last week of August. Colleges would start the last week of August. In the decades I've been out of school, it seems it been getting earlier and earlier. I fully expect it to be into July very soon. Whats funnyy is every time I bring this very topic up people act like Im crazy and its always been the same date. "its always been the 3rd week of August" or "its always been the 2nd week of August". Incrementalism is a powerful thing. You can boil a frog.

yeah I saw that bs last night. School does not begin here (mid of country) for a couple weeks. So looks like some demon run states (areas) are starting earlier my guess is so they can screw with more fake numbers of corona and shut all schools down because of it before school year even begins.

Just last school year there was this crap about starting school later here due to some stupid holiday stuff it made NO sense then. Now I see what they are pulling they did not want school in some areas beginning before they could fiddle with shit Puke heads definitely Planned this out way ahead of time.

We had 3 months of summer
june july august. Early June to Early september.
Parents would take kids every year on a long summer vacation, lifelong memories.
Federal money is what is wanted now, and parents both work.
Our schools have summer school now.
