I had trucks going to CO today from UT. They were lucky and turned off to route around Steamboat Springs and that 2 lane detour was deadly with thousands of cars and RV's driving ridiculous speeds.
I ended up routing them both up through Baggs, WY and over I-80. They at least made it to Cheyenne tonight. They're trying to get to Colorado Springs and from I-70 up to I-80 was a crazy detour. I'm glad they didn't have to sit on the Interstate and wait. They were just about to Rifle when they shut it down, so they were able to route around the mess and it's a mess!
What do they do with all the trucks sitting in line on that Interstate overnight? It's a crazy mess in Colorado today~~~

I lived there once and I agree. There isnt much community there. It’s a highway corridor and resort destination. They do have occasional bad fires. The twats in Aspen will be all trapped and there will be a shortage of limes for their cocktails...

Fire has jumped the highway, the Colorado river and the railroad tracks. Now going up the South side of the canyon.

Their newspaper story saysthe fire is man-caused. Could be sabotage. There’s a war on. That’s a major shipping corridor. Also when they close it, it does block Aspen in. Aspen is a deep state hideaway. Maybe something going on up there...

Being originally from Steamboat springs.. I bet it was.

I have a relative in South Metro Denver.. and they are getting nasty smoke from another Colorado fire in Pine Gulch fire north of Grand Junction.

Any word on the cause of the fire?

Aspen is not blocked in.

Aspen has an airport, so there are ways in and out.

I used to take my son gold panning outside Golden in Clear Creek Canyon. Those were the days, back in the 80s. Things sure have changed.

Sure pray they get this fire under control. We drove that route to Glenwood Springs many a time. Beautiful country.

The highway through The canyon is considered a modern marvel. With fire burning under elevated sections, wonder if it will structurally weaken the highway
