Anonymous Coward User ID: 77863568 United States 08/10/2020 10:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | UPDATE: I-70 to remain closed through Glenwood Canyon through the night due to Grizzly Creek Fire Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77950786 [link to www.postindependent.com (secure)] I had trucks going to CO today from UT. They were lucky and turned off to route around Steamboat Springs and that 2 lane detour was deadly with thousands of cars and RV's driving ridiculous speeds. I ended up routing them both up through Baggs, WY and over I-80. They at least made it to Cheyenne tonight. They're trying to get to Colorado Springs and from I-70 up to I-80 was a crazy detour. I'm glad they didn't have to sit on the Interstate and wait. They were just about to Rifle when they shut it down, so they were able to route around the mess and it's a mess! What do they do with all the trucks sitting in line on that Interstate overnight? It's a crazy mess in Colorado today~~~ =( |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77950786 How long have you lived here? I lived there once and I agree. There isnt much community there. It’s a highway corridor and resort destination. They do have occasional bad fires. The twats in Aspen will be all trapped and there will be a shortage of limes for their cocktails... That one twatter pic of flames shooting between the divided canyon highway I-70 ... yikes |

That’s a major shipping corridor. Also when they close it, it does block Aspen in. Aspen is a deep state hideaway. Maybe something going on up there... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79219910 Aspen has an airport, so there are ways in and out. I used to take my son gold panning outside Golden in Clear Creek Canyon. Those were the days, back in the 80s. Things sure have changed. Sure pray they get this fire under control. We drove that route to Glenwood Springs many a time. Beautiful country. |

Glenwood Canyon is a rugged scenic 12.5 mi (20 km) canyon on the Colorado River in western Colorado in the United States. Its walls climb as high as 1,300 feet (400 m) above the Colorado River. It is the largest such canyon on the Upper Colorado. The canyon, which has historically provided the routes of railroads and highways through western Colorado, currently furnishes the routes of Interstate 70 and the Central Corridor between Denver and Grand Junction.
