I've eaten at one IHOP once because I was on a skiing trip and they all wanted to go. It's WEIRD and it's not like the food is anything special.

I have a similar story in las vegas....a friend and I went to the NYNY casino to eat and see the band at an irish pub in there. problem is, their mask policy is off the hook. I walked through the casino without a mask, probably the only guy without one. When they told me I had to wear a mask unless I was actively consuming something, I told them I won't support their business or this madness and told my friend we need to leave. And they were pretty rude and condescending about it.

Yep, Vegas is dying. Made reservations at Mandalay Bay the other day, last night of a cross country trip. I go up to check in, with the stupid mask on and what do you know, they want to take my temp....sorry, not doing it!!! I was told all the hotels in nevada are taking temps. I left, losing my reservation $....it's the principle. When are we going to put a stop to it? Anyway, drove around the corner to a Motel 6 and spent the night there, no temperature check. We're losing our freedoms more every day....we MUST fight back against this tyranny!!

I am so sorry that your wife didn't have your back.

When I am in traffic and someone else in traffic fucks up and I am getting into it with them either in my head or out loud in the car, my wife "used" to sometimes try to correct me in the hopes that she would have less tension in the car.

Then, one day, I explained to her that what was important to me was that she take my side in the car when someone else is in the wrong traffic wise -- I mean whose team is she on, here? Her husband or the total stranger.

Since I had that talk with her, she got it right. If someone on the road is doing something stupid, even if I pissed her off, she curses them out and directs her anger towards them instead and in doing so, she knows I've got her back too.

Women can be trained. You just need to sit them down, tell them how it makes you feel and genuinely tell her you need her to have your back. If that doesn't work, then you know, that's the marriage you've got and if that works for you, well, that's that.

Personally, my previous relationship (long term fiancee) didn't truly have my back and that came to a head at a certain point and thankfully, we went our separate ways and are both totally in different relationships now and that was totally the right move.

I know you have a daughter. I do not. I come from divorce. It sucks, but I can't tell you what to do. You can try to make your case to your wife and see if you can bargain. Offer her something she wants in return.

Your daughter witnessed something today. Two different points of view. Many people are only witnessing one point of view and it is the wrong point of view. At least your daughter has an example of her father not being a slave and having some self respect. As far as those that made you mad, its a temporary state of affairs. We all get mad. I deal with the mask thing every day in the Los Angeles area. I stand my ground. Medical exemption. Some places are cool with it. Other places take some work. Some threaten cops. Honestly, I talked with a cop at lunch today and asked his opinion, who he would back up if it was customer versus business and I am not wearing a mask...he said it was unprecedented...he definitely wasn't siding with the business just because. He was definitely asking if I have some documentation for medical. I stated yes but I don't carry it around or have to show it and he acknowledged that too. The cops won't arrest you for not wearing a mask. They can only give you a trespass warning and if you don't leave, then they can cite you for trespass and then release you with a court date which amounts to a fine or dismissed depending on the judge.

Tell each business that mentions the mask on the very first interaction that you have a medical exemption and you are covered more often than not. Don't bring it up until later and they think they caught you in a lie and won't back down. In their minds, the only trump card for a mask mandate is an immediate admission of a medical exemption. They won't debate the politics of forced non body autonomy, but medical exemptions fall under their religion of medical trumps all and exemptions trump more than mandates do in that heirarchical ideology.

You are not alone. We are moving out of this state this month to go where it is not like this.

I saw a Waffle House Food Truck today.. where they park and serve breakfast out of the truck. Really weird, had no idea they did that.
