Horses are more valuable for other things.

Native Americans made them go extinct via hunting. In Britain where there is a taboo against eating them they were the main mode of transport and haulage.

Plus the thought is just gross. Cows are beautiful too, but they were raised and bred specifically to be eaten.

Ads are too long, but wouldn't want to see anyway. We rescue horses that have gotten "too old" or inconvenient by their previous owners, Every life is beautiful and I/we am so blessed to have each one we've gotten.

You do know that there are other countries on Earth, right, AC? You do know that in all other countries on Earth, AC, they have their own customs, culture, and generally their own peoples, yes? So it stands to reason that in another country their culture says it is alright or better to eat actual horse meat. Heck, in India eating cow meat is considered "vile".

I suppose it depends on your perspective. Horses hold significant depth of consciousness, second density, and there are many people who would consider eating them to disrupt their personal moral principles.

This statement, of course, widens the topic of discussion to (allow me to re-word your statement) 'what's wrong with eating animals.' I, personally, don't know the right or wrong answer here. However, regarding horses specifically, there's certainly cultural differences between peoples which instill principles at a very young age as to which animals are appropriate to eat.

Depth of consciousness = the magnitude of complex awareness (i.e. a human being has a high depth.)
Span of consciousness = the number of life-forms in a category (i.e. bacteria: the number of currently living bacteria is greater than the number of currently living people!)

I think of it like this: would I want to be living on a farm with other humans to be used as food by life-forms with a much higher depth/order of consciousness that consider us humans appropriate for food? No. Therefore, I wouldn't want to do that with a stable of horses.

A the end of the day, I think it's a personal decision and I don't hold any judgement of right or wrong against people who do or don't eat meat.

In the book Grace & Grit, Treya holds a perspective on this issue I find interesting. Her moral frame involved only eating animals that she was able to kill herself. And by able, she didn't mean holding the ability, but would it cause her too much emotional pain that she wouldn't want to do it again.

I don’t live in ‘ other’ countries and don’t care what they do or do not do. In the USA we don’t eat horses unless we are vile and sub human. I hope anyone who eats horse chokes and is a pervert in my eyes.
