U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar won the Democratic primary nomination on Tuesday to run for re-election in Minnesota's 5th district, defeating a well-funded rival, Antone Melton-Meaux, and several challengers, the New York Times said.

Omar had 57.4% of the vote compared with 39.3% for Melton-Meaux, the New York Times said.

Omar's win in a Democratic stronghold means all four Squad members are likely to win re-election in November. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York dispatched a primary challenger in June, and the fourth Squad member, Representative Ayanna Pressley, is running unopposed in her primary in Massachusetts next month.

Melton-Meaux, an attorney, criticized Omar for her comments on Israel, some of which have been seen as anti-Semitic, as well as her failure to show up for some House votes. His campaign received support from pro-Israel groups.
