round chambered no problem

just use an xd for appendix carry

the grip safety is completely transparent once you put it in your hand

When you are getting ready to gun fight in an alley with say, two armed attackers you might get a little rattled on the draw and put your finger in the trigger guard while it's aimed at your groin.
I can chamber a round on any pistol as I'm bringing it to level without any real delay. It takes about as long as releasing the safety on a real gun.

Bad idea......hey bad guy, let me chamber a round first, ok I’m ready!

No, ALWAYS be ready to fire, or don’t carry a weapon.
Definitely don’t put it in your waistband without a holster.....or you’ll regret it
And don’t point it at anything you do not intend to shoot, which is the exact reason to keep a round chambered....if someone points a gun at me, they’re not planning to hug me.....and I need to be able to stop any threat.

It's amazing how emotional and angry some get talking about various gun issues. People have differing ideas about firearms. The ones that know their real dangers, and aren't just internet braggarts may choose a safer design. They aren't cops or secret agents, they live in a milk toast lily white town and their gun is probably never going to be needed. If they drop it, no one gets hurt or even notices.
Drop a cocked glock and you may shoot a store clerk.

Calm down and discuss it like adults or get rid of the pistol, hysteria and guns don't mix.

People like to carry with safety switch off so they can draw quicker but I strongly disagree since you can do so with the gun in hand if and when you are in a dangerous scenario.

Also good idea to have a good holster that won't allow accidental firing.

Or accidentally dropping it. And yes, the safety is positioned to be quick and easy to take off on the upswing.
Also, if some thug manages to get your gun away from you and turn it on you, the safety being on might give you the time you need to get ahold of it before he kills you.
If you can you can wrap a hand around the frame and close it in a way to push the slide out of battery until you can wrench it away.
A Cincinnati police captain showed me that.

Yes and most of the time you can either deesculate the situation or keep a big distance and stand behind a cover with your gun ready.

Bullshit.
A Flock is equivalent to a single action automatic with the hammer cocked and safety off.
A double action revolver has a long trigger pull that is much harder to do accidentally.

I pocket carry a 380 bodyguard. I like it because it's a double action. The chamber has a round, but the firing pin is not cocked. The trigger has a long hard pull to set pin and fire. I wish more full size guns were available in double action.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78953925

You don't need the safety on if the chamber ain't loaded so it's either/or.
While it takes another hand to jack the action, either move (safety off or load a round) can be done as you bring up the gun.
What's the big deal?
Do it your way, blow your nutsack off, who cares?
I'll do it my way and risk losing 10 milliseconds and keep my gonads intact, and never accidentally kill a bystander so thank you very much mr gunslinger.

There are plenty. The Ruger P89 or P90, the little Makarov 9X18 are just a couple of these common, SA/DA pistols.
I had a P90 and a Mak, I've had about every common piece over the years.

I'm only referring to the modern striker pistols when I recommend an empty chamber, and then only for routine carry.
If somehow you know in advance that trouble is brewing, chamber one and re-holster.

Re: Conceal Carry without a holster ...... pay the price
For 1911s a good holster is the safety and the safety does not need to be on when cocked. We have come a long way since the WWI folded in half leather pice of leather holster.

I also know there are people that can draw, chamber and shoot quicker than most people can figure out what’s happening. Then there are the people that carry one hot that can’t even pick up their shirt, fumble fuck around and would be dead in a critical situation.

So there really are no winners or loosing with chambering or not it comes down to situational awareness, execution and for the most part luck.

IMHO

Your CCW should have a safety that you can engage/disengage when required.

round chamber/safety on.

it's much more inconspicuous to turn off safety than rack a slide...
