I heard those things are huge pieces of shit. Some dude on here has one and the motor blew up.

Had jeeps, never again. Like the land rover, but not sure of reliability.

Hate to say it but I switched to Toyota and Honda years ago and have had great luck with all vehicles. 2 toyota Tacomas and 2 honda crvs. Never a problem.

Defenders and Land Rovers went tit's up after they became comuterised. The British Army went elsewhere after the introduction of the Td5 which is largly fly by wire rubbish. Engines not bad though.

Too many computers, too many ECU's they stopped being viable expedition machines a long time ago. People persevered by taking complete duplicates of the mains ECU's and computer systems. Pointless!

The crap started with the inspired use of a the ford transit engine in the defenders. Not designed by Rover, the 300tdi to this day reigns supreme.

The ford engine found the combination of ultra low revs and high torque with moderatly heavy loads a problem as issues of low fuel lubrication and oil circulation an unforseen issue. My sons friends company (Western Power) almost exclusively use the 300 tdi where and when they can. The ford engined ones just stop for no reason and will never start again without a rebuild and the mavericks just get stuck all the time.

I love Land rovers, I currently run a SWB, TUL, FFR. There are incredible aspects to them and I could talk about them for hours, but along with so many aspects of life now, the genre has been trashed by idiots to satisfy the idiots who continue to buy them because of the name. Wank**rs
