In the US the monthly cost for people needing insulin is around 500$

In Germany it's around 5€

Insurance companies in the US are in bed with pharma companies to pump prices and share the profit.


In Europe, one of the actor (the insurance) is public so it can tell pharma company "fuck you, 500$ is absurd. Offer a fair price or we are going to blacklist you and tell patients to buy somewhere else".

Most Americans are so selfish, that the idea to pay slightly more taxes to get bigger benefits is hideous to them, because other people benefit it too.



In their mind it's literally "I can't accept this if it benefits someone else too. I rather pay more to make sure nobody else benefits from it".

Imagine you can choose between a 10% chance you or one of 10 other people wins 1000$, or a 100% that everybody gets 100$.

What would you choose?

Most Americans would prefer the first choice because they are greedy and selfish, to their own detriment.

Many Europeans will prefer the second choice because they are pragmatic, and the idea that win-win is desirable is accepted.
