Not entirely sure. Remember the Y2K thing in IT about 20 years ago:
Media and a lot of people said: nothing going on, nothing happened. What is all the fuzz about. But: I was (and am still) an IT guy. The amount of time I had to spend back then to rewrite code in order to avoid banking systems going berserk on 01/01/2000 is countless. But nobody of the ordinary people saw that. And: nothing happened indeed.

The same might be going on right now: a lot of measures are taken which kind of limits the number of infections and avoids health systems to be flooded, allowing good treatment of patients ending up in the hospital. When you look at what happened in Italy: there the health system collapsed and the amount of death people directly (yes directly related to Covid-19 was very high.

So be very careful dismissing everything as overreacting as it might be the measures taken to try and avoid a full scale breakout of the virus actually have effect and therefore give the misperception that it is overreaction while it actually is not.

I do know young people that died of the virus and I also know some Italian people who were in the midst of it when it all came down in Italy. So... not so sure if it is smart right now to start promoting the idea that all measures taken are an overreaction. As when they stop taking measures and the virus gets full opportunity to spread, I am not sure that's a world you want to live in, especially seen the proven numerous consequences after having overcome the virus (permanent issues with heart, lungs, kidneys,... just to name a couple).

And before you ask: no, I am not a sheep. I am the first to be sceptic and I check, doublecheck and triple-check information most of the times. Also did it with this one One of the people I know is actually a virologist, who is not involved in the decision taking related to health measures here in Belgium. A well respected guy. He too says we need to be very cautious with this virus as it is effectively a dangerous one.
