I've seen coral snakes and copperheads around my house. I just leave them alone. They leave. I never see them again. Same with the more numerous and much wider variety of non-venomous snakes I've seen passing through. The vast majority of snakebites happen because people try to kill or harass the snake. |

The temperament wasn't too bad, it tolerated me bothering it well. I've noticed when you annoy the snakes they don't come back. No need to kill them, just pick them up and have a keen interest in them and they vanish forever. We currently have a snake drought this year. I think I've seen one the whole time. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79196419 Doesn't eat it just killed it and left. Kingsnake is best snake. Kingsnakes are red, black and yellow, similar to the coral snake which is venomous. Hard to tell them apart. Have to know the order of the color of the bands. |

They will chase your ass. LoneStarRising |

Good job on knowing the difference between venomous and poisonous Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79098178 No, it was in Texas and it was definitely a Texas coral snake. Each time, it saw me, paused, and then bolted. They're smart. I've never seen their lookalikes around here. I once saw a mating pair of something or other, maybe rat snakes or racers. They moved fast, about 5 feet long, and they did the deed right outside my front door. In any case, as long as you watch your step and watch where you put your hands, your chances of being snakebit are minuscule. A much bigger threat in my neck of the woods is brown recluse spiders (because they're everywhere). The real threat though is wasps, because they will actually attack your ass, and often do. |

They taste like tough chicken fish. Yeah, yummy. I can eat them but I won’t seek snakes to eat them, elk is way better. Smoke me a kipper, I’ll be back for breakfast. I grew up around moccasins, copperheads and various king snakes, runners , grass snakes , etc. mocassins are by far the meanest bastards. Copperheads will scurry off unless you step on them or accidentally surprise them in a wood pile. Of the non- venomous, rat snakes have a pissy attitude. "Be like water my friend”- Bruce Lee |
