They removed tons of mailboxes from neighborhoods around dayton OH years ago and didn't replace them

Reason being, they were so rarely ever used.

There are still a few around, I can see one from my house, but it's a big neighborhood and people still use it.

I doubt they're replacing old boxes in Portland, but removing rarely/never used ones.

So many people are going "paperless" for their bills there's no need for a box on every corner anymore.
