William Harvey Carney (February 29, 1840 – December 9, 1908) was an American soldier during the American Civil War.

Born as a slave, he was awarded the Medal of Honor in 1900* for his gallantry in saving the regimental colors (American flag) during the Battle of Fort Wagner in 1863.

The action for which he received the Medal of Honor preceded any other African American Medal of Honor recipient; however, his medal was actually one of the very last to be awarded for Civil War service.[1]

When the color guard was killed, Carney retrieved the U.S. flag and marched forward with it, despite serious wounds.[3]

If you agree with this thread please bump it periodically. This is a very passive and effective way to protest and make a statement.

There is no longer a need to burn your neighborhood down or threaten people's safety.



All that people have to do in order to make their point heard is to make signs (similar to garage sale signs) that state your message and put them up in a mile or two radius around your home. Maybe 10 signs in or near busy intersections.

You don't have to be wild on social media, explain yourself, or put yourself all the way out there online at all.


When people see your sign, they will automatically interpret it as a protest of sorts. They will realize there are people out there with your point of view, and that your point of view is important enough to have a protest formed over it. People will think about your sign as they drive down the road and wonder why it was put up. That is exactly what you want. For your message to be heard,thought about, and hopefully researched by those who read your sign.






I hope this is viewed as a viable method of protest, and I really hope some of you take this idea and run with it. If you tell people of this idea and motivate them to partake, then you potentially just helped wake up dozens to hundreds of MORE people to what is going on.

Be creative with the signs. Think of sarcastic phrases that make a point, or even something simple like 'Ban Nickelodeon' that make people have to look online to understand why your sign exists.

Everywhere I've lived it's illegal to post signs on property you don't own. First they take them down, then if it persists, they watch the area, identify you, and whatever penalty they have for it, you get.

I have always been in a metropolitan area or it's close suburb, so mebbe different in other locales.

Good idea OP. This is a good passive way to get people to wake up a bit. Although, I think most are awake to some degree or another, the media just makes it not feel that way.

I also like the idea of people putting flags at the their houses, cars, etc. I’ve been noticing much more flags the last month or so. Let’s keep these passive forms of protest/support going.

So a demon comes to GLP and says 'do not teach your fellow Humans anything and if you try then you deserve something horrible'
