You are correct. Sometimes they must be killed with kindness. I use social engineering in dealing with most in my job. Just last week my boss asked me to resolve a problem with a new application that would not work in our environment. I praised the 'oh such a great accomplishment' the application was that was never tested and now I was expected to fix it. And social engineered it out of production and sent it back to the developers to rewrite and to rewrite it correctly and even closed several networking loopholes it required to work, thus rendering it useless in the delivered form. Today it is back in the developers hands to rewrite it so it works. I've yet to eloquently point out that the one hundred H1B employees could all be replaced by ten actual programmer's at the same total salary expenditure and have products that work. That day is coming too.
