CDC: A positive antibody test for Covid-19 could just mean that you have antibodies from an infection with a virus from the same family of viruses (called coronaviruses), such as the one that causes the common cold [i.e. a positive test result doesn’t necessarily mean you have Covid-19]. There are 2 tests for it. The viral and the antibody and they should be used separately. However several states were caught inflating their numbers by including both tests to the numbers. So for example if you had a positive antibody test it could just mean that you had antibodies from an infection of a virus other than covid19 in the coronavirus family, you'd still be counted as a positive case even though the antibody test isn't the one that should be used to diagnose people.
