Absolutely, though I never could really into it. I was a huge Populous fan (PC and Genesis versions, both.) Powermonger was like the spiritual successor of sorts. Peter Molyneux kind of went downhill after these titles...

EA - Electronic Arts bought the developer Bulfrog, and if you know anything about EA, they buy Devs and then kill their franchises. After Peter left Bullfrog-EA, he formed Lionhead (Black and white, Fable, etc), EA then let the Bullfrog franchises die except for a very few.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. I remember a lot of hype over Black and White but it didn't seem to deliver as expected.

An old friend of mine was one of the developers for Maxis and worked on SimCity 4... (He sent me a boxed copy before the game hit the market.) I remember his plight back when EA essentially killed Maxis. EA basically became the model of how NOT to run a game company. lol

Yeah, it was kind of the grand daddy of Powermonger, and OMG did I clock some hours in that game.

I actually have two copies of the Genesis version before remembering that it only works on the very first Sega Genesis model! When Sega implemented the TMSS copy protection crap on later hardware, they nixed a few (mostly EA) titles in the process...

Oh this is even better than the commercial. Never seen him discuss it:

Most won't believe you if you just show them the commercial and say "he's the kid with the safari hat!"

Actually, you could only play for 20 minutes... But I get your point ;)

Probably one of the first games (that I can remember) that had a set time limit. And remember the first time you ran LEFT instead of right, and realized that you can play the game....backwards?!

I never had Pitfall (until now) so I always had to go play it at my friend's house...problem was, it was his dad's Atari! But that didn't stop us from playing it secretly, of course.

"I'll bring over Dragonfire and Berserk...but only if I can play Yars' Revenge and Pitfall first!"

Those were the days for sure.

Unfortunately no heavy sixer.
1 Atari light sixer, 1 Sears Telegames sixer, 1 regular 4 switch, and 1 Vader 4 switch.

The Jr. is the one with the long rainbow badge but sadly the case is cracked. The plastic seemed to become really brittle over the years. Any amount of stress causes damage.

Re: Powermonger - Atari
I once had to make my own (emergency) Atari 2600 power supply by dissecting a pair of earphones and connecting to a transformer. roflbanana

The old Atari 2600 had a 1/8 audio jack (like an Apple earbud) for a power supply connector. lmao

(You can also use Sega Genesis controllers with an Atari...and the system can then see a second "impossible" controller button. :)

Oh, I forgot about the Sears Telegames and the "Vader" for some reason... I guess I was never exposed to them as much...

I always hated the downgrade to 4-switch because it made some games unnecessarily unplayable... Space Shuttle was one that comes to mind, although there were some concessions made to accommodate the more recent systems...but I digress...

Now, Star Raiders with the keyboard controller...

WOWWW!!!!!
