I must admit that I was cautiously hopeful when he took office. I thought basically what you said; He aint a politician, has made huge sums of money. Likely cant be bought etc. But ultimately he has done nothing of any real substance to alter the situation in any meaningful way. There are steps he could have taken the moment he assumed office to begin to get us back on azimuth but he does none of it. All the laws benefiting corporate interests, allowing the pillaging of America's wealth etc. There are certain laws that he could go after to affect REAL change. Legislative Reorganization Act of 1970, Smith-Mundt Modernization Act, and on and on I could go. But he wont do it because he is not what most think he is.

I do not believe that Trump is fighting for the Republic at all.

I know that some of it is simply the power and persuasion modern propaganda. And social media makes it even more so. I know a lot very reasonable, intelligent people who love trump and insist that he is working to save the nation. When I try to tell them that he is complicit they simply are wholly unable to even seriously consider it. It is tragic really.
