They lost simply because they didn't have the numbers or the resources. Their navy was about one third the size of ours. They had the home court advantage which made them hard to beat, I dont think we could have ever successful defeated them in conventional combat in Japan them without the atom bomb attacks. That scared the begeebers out of the whole world.

Now had the Germans or the Japanese got the bomb first, the war would have ended much differently.
