How are we supposed to love something we fear? I do fear god and I know he's real but I fear I'm not worthy enough and that makes me anxious for what lays beyond.
Apart from that, I dont believe that god done away with the devil at the point you mentioned. I think hell is very much active now as it was back then.
Not until he is cast down to the lake of fire do things change. How though I dont know. Do all the demons stop torturing then and are also cast down with the devil? How did they get the tools to create the pits of hell and the cube chambers that's mentioned in the bible and many NDE stories? Who was the first person in hell and how did it come about given the place was designed for satan and his Angel's only. How is it satan is free to roam the land like a lion on the prowl for his victims when he supposed to be locked in hell? I believe I had a demonic experience once.so I do believe in them? It's just so much doesn't make sense to me.

It gets worse before it gets better - but when it gets better - it's really really good :)
A few issues that clears things up:
The ruling class has manipulated the bible again and again for their own purposes
They replaced nameless / genderless Source Creator of All Universes with their patriarchy war, money, fear & suffering egregor YHVH
ANY use of blood magic is black magic - there is no good blood magic - there is no good genital mutilation - divine Source does not mingle directly in corrupt human affairs - do not test Abraham to sacrifice his own child - does not feed upon the blood and body sacrifice of Christ - these are actions of a dark overlord
Notice the blood sacrifice offerings around the world through various cultures? Same dark group that has been infecting humanity using different approaches and trying to take us over for their own purposes for a long, long time
The 'hell' vibration is very low - you have to be really really bad and WANT to be really really bad - even still you can wander through the material realities up into the lower astral, but that's as far as you can go, there is a wall you cannot pass, like a frequency fence (the eye of the needle) the realms of pure love and balance (some call it 5D or upper astral)
That is why we see evil running amok down here, seeming to get a free pass - while using fear and threat of hellfire as fear-mongering leverage - they are using everything they can to box people in and stay stuck in this dimension to be used as unwitting slaves, tools and playthings
This is where the desperation, jealousy and nonsensical double standards come from - these are dark forces at the helm using every tactic they can to keep as many souls stuck in this vibration as possible
These dark forces are not evolving anytime soon - humans on the other hand are positioned to be on the way out of the material dimension through natural evolution / following the golden rule / learning spiritual wisdom through direct experience - it is natural for us to transcend all of this and return to the realms of peace, love and balance
So these forces do EVERYTHING they can to invert and pervert our natural evolution - while trying to pretend they are not - applying a thick gaudy veneer to try and come across like angels when really they are wolves in sheep's clothing
The Golden Rule, Christ-likeness, common decency is the path - is the way - through following his example - not by using Christ as a human / blood sacrifice idol
You can start to notice the drastic difference in what is pure good spiritual teachings - and where the ruling class and their shadowy dark forces have manipulated the scriptures
This in itself becomes a deeper spiritual lesson in discernment which is necessary to transcend the whole mess - to separate the wheat from the chaff so to speak
