Quoting: AkashicRecord® Just a few days ago I was posting impact data for 5 and 10 mile large asteroids impacting the deepest part of the ocean...albeit at some pretty damn high speeds, but this is kind of crazy! (anyone have any data on how fast it is traveling?) It's not 6 miles wide, that was a news story that got it wrong. I believe in science NOT religion. Anonymous Coward User ID: 37072564 United States 09/04/2020 11:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | But with a little critical thinking, we all know there's no reason to report a 6ft asteroid because it would burn up like most small asteroids and not be news worthy. Most amateur scientists don't believe it's only a 6ft asteroid, and still believe the original report of it being a 6 mile asteroid. It's 6 miles in diameter and passing within 300miles of Earth on Nov 2. and please keep in mind The International Space Station is only 300miles above Earth. It could easily wipe out 1/3 of the Earth's population if it hit. This is why Elon Musk was recently performing multiple rocket launches in the last month - they're trying to redirect it away from Earth. They also removed all the people on the ISS - International Space Station last month. This is another reason why Trump made the recent, " Space Force" as part of the US armed forces. I think it's to divert the incoming asteroids. Sounds crazy but some Elon Musk is from the future. His primary mission was to develop new advanced rockets with his company, "Space X" to detour these things. Elon Musk's company Tesla which is now over $2100/share and making the best electric vehicles out there. Elon is indeed from the future and brought all this future technology with him to try to save the world... This is also why he is so willing to get mankind off Earth in a hurry, but not before Nov 2nd. |

SpaceX will assist NASA's first-ever mission to redirect an asteroid NASA has chosen SpaceX to help out on its first-ever attempt to deflect an asteroid. The Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) will blast off on a Falcon 9 rocket in June 2021 from the Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. Its mission: To smash a satellite into the Didymos asteroid's small moon in a bid to knock it off its orbit. What sounds like the plot of a Michael Bay movie could turn out to be NASA's first line of defense against Earth-bound asteroids. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 77304534 United States 09/04/2020 11:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It is. The report is bullshit. If it were 6 miles wide it would already be visible in amateur telescopes during its approach. This weekend I'm going to image where that asteroid would have to be if it were going to impact earth. I'm not going to see anything because it's actually 6 feet wide instead of 6 miles wide. Kudos Astro, I take back anything I've ever said bad about you, of which isn't much but still. GLP is lucky to have you watching the heaven's above for them. |

Well, sorry, to say, but Astromut or any other amateur astronomer will not be able to see a 6 mile wide asteroid coming at us from the Sun due to over the contrasting glare from the Sun. However, our government has shut down all observatories (most of them anyway), and are only operating the top secrets ones that are able to glare into the Sun's corona and following Elon Musk's latest rocket attempts to divert this 6mile dia. planet killer away from us. I guess we'll all see it very soon if they are successful. |
