Senior Forum Moderator 09/16/2020 12:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | ... Quoting: Astromut It is. The report is bullshit. If it were 6 miles wide it would already be visible in amateur telescopes during its approach. This weekend I'm going to image where that asteroid would have to be if it were going to impact earth. I'm not going to see anything because it's actually 6 feet wide instead of 6 miles wide. Kudos Astro, I take back anything I've ever said bad about you, of which isn't much but still. GLP is lucky to have you watching the heaven's above for them. Well, sorry, to say, but Astromut or any other amateur astronomer will not be able to see a 6 mile wide asteroid coming at us from the Sun due to over the contrasting glare from the Sun. That is a lie. As I explained in the video if it were 6 mi wide I would definitely be able to see it right now. It wouldn't even be that hard. It would be quite bright to an amateur telescope and right now it would be far enough from the sun to be observable. Images acquired. Analysis ongoing. |
