Anonymous Coward User ID: 73112757 United States 09/07/2020 06:24 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The castle fire is probably going to move through my property within the next 48 hours. The have already laid the hoses through our area. For two years we have cleaned it. We have a good shot of having it survive. My brother still there but needs to get out soon. He got super aggressive whacking everything even remotely close to structures. Almost my entire acreage is cleaned to the dirt. Quoting: Dee49 The amount of acreage is unreal. The Creek fire could end up being one of the fastest growing in history. Now close to 75,000 acres in just over 48 hours. All those dead beatle infested pines are just natures kindling for a gigantic labor day camp fire. I can remember some of my recent visits to the Sierra foot hills and commenting on all the dead trees I saw. Natures reclamation project does not care about any thing but burn burn reclaim. Shit the giant sequoia that calls that area home does not release its Pine cone seeds unless the temp is super high something only a forest fire can do. So that tree uses fire for propagation. Thats Cali earthquakes winter rain floods tons of sierra snow and oh fire fire fire. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79350821 United States 09/07/2020 10:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | An intense heat wave broiled large swaths of California this Labor Day weekend, shattering numerous records, causing thousands to lose power and fueling several brush fires that were threatening communities from Yucaipa to the Sierra foothills. Quoting: Digital mix guy Forecasters had predicted historic high temperatures, and they were proved right. Dozens of communities set records Saturday, and a few appeared to record all-time highs, according to the National Weather Service. In Woodland Hills, the mercury climbed to 117 degrees by 3 p.m., making it the hottest day ever recorded there in September, breaking the record of 115 set in 1979. Burbank reached 113, tying its monthly record set in 1971. Van Nuys hit 115. The mercury soared even higher to the east, with Palm Springs hitting 122 and Indio 121. Officials said at least three areas tied or topped all-time record highs: Alpine (113), El Cajon (114) and Idyllwild (103). The weather service said Burbank appeared to tie an all-time record at 114 degrees. [link to www.latimes.com (secure)] The only way this high heat could be a genuine threat is if the heat is not a dry heat, but a high humidity heat. If this is a dry heat then this is largely hype. If this is a high humidity heat then yeah this will be deadly indeed. Over a decade ago here in North Texas for a Summer the daily highs were in the 120*F's for much of the Summer. This was not nearly a grave threat if you were in an air conditioned house. It was a desert like heat with very low humidity. You ran more of a risk of dying from a ceaseless severe nose bleed from the dry heat than the dry heat itself back then. You are stupid. Dry heat causes worse fire conditions. Fire burns at over 450 degrees. No AC on earth will make that tolerable. You also seem to not understand relative humidity. People are dying from the fires, not the heat. |

(OP) User ID: 79260005 United States 09/09/2020 10:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Smoke from a record-breaking spate of wildfires burning across the West shrouded the sky, obliterating some familiar landmarks and casting others in a dim, eerie orange-yellow glow. In the foothills and mountains from Washington state to nearly the Mexican border, firefighters continued their desperate battle to contain the flames and rescue people trapped behind fire lines or, as in the case of Medford, Oregon, or Oroville, California, to help evacuate cities and towns. In California, at least 32 major fires were burning as of Wednesday afternoon and more than 64,000 people were under an evacuation order. As of Wednesday, CalFire was reporting seven confirmed deaths as a result of the blazes. Officials warned that the death toll would likely climb. In the Bay Area, no sunrise was visible as a mix of fog and smoke from weeks of fires enveloped towns and cities in a haze that resembled perpetual predawn light. “It is still dark as though it’s 6 a.m., but it’s already 8, which is weird in itself,” said Kim Hart, 48, who lives in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley neighborhood. User ID: 78300069 United States 09/09/2020 11:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well. Socked in from smoke now. The fire maps won’t load due to traffic so can’t tell how close they are. One from Idaho has turned direction due to wind shift and is near the tiny town of Oxbow. According to local friend. Still on the West side of the Snake River. Long night ahead. |
