Anonymous Coward User ID: 79357979 09/10/2020 10:39 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | TJ Max shelves seems to be empty (can't get merchandise from Bankrupt Retail stores)? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75857706 I am interested because we are getting close to buy retail stocks. Anyone seeing this as well? I’ve noticed TJ Max, Marshall’s and Ross are depressingly bare. It makes me so sad. I know nothing about their business models. Los Angeles area here & noticed same ^. They had signs up at Ross stating , ‘thank you for shopping with us. We expect more stock soon’ Not exact words but to that effect. Their home goods & linens were minimally stocked with items pulled forward and nothing behind that. |

We have been told we will only be receiving “replenishment level shipments”. We are receiving new merchandise for the season, but in the past if we were selling an item well we would receive more full size runs of the item. Now we will only receive replenish of the sizes we have sold. They will keep store inventories low. Also, I have maybe 1/10 the amount of clearance I had prior to lockdown. Previously I had tons of back stock clearance while my sales floor was always maxxed with it. Now I have 1/3 as much on my sales floor and zero back stock. I have not received any holiday items yet, but I usually don’t until late October. What I am receiving and selling out of immediately are items that capitalize on the pandemic. For example- masks, hand sanitizers, (which we haven’t previously carried) and screens that say things like social distancing club, keep your distance, antisocial, stay 6 feet away, and/or photos of celebs wearing masks. They are busy which may be one reason. There definitely is lack of inventory. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 78614390 United States 09/10/2020 05:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I work at a major hobby store, coastal nc. I have a retail background and am aware retail orders at least a year in advance. Early into covid, I sat in on a conference call with industry leaders who were projecting the supply result of the virus and china shipments. They had said that the ships would stop delivering, but from a retail aspect, there would be a 'fire sale' till the last piece was sold, with no advance notice to the public. I have been observing the store inventory since then, in all stores I enter. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9264516 I have noticed the ross, tj max type stores looking like a mess, with no other items except clothes. No sheets, towels, bedspreads, home decor, etc. As for the hobby store, I work in fabric. Fabric is a booming dept because of the people making masks. Fabric is coming from india, viet nam and mexico. Some from china. I don't know if these are previous inventory or current shipments. One isle of artists canvas was empty for 4 weeks, but now has some. When the store first reopened in June, the christmas and fall was still in place. They packed up christmas but left out fall and put out spring and 4th july. In july they discounted all spring. in august they began putting out christmas. I am a new hire but am aware that a lot of christmas they brought out was what they had packed up a few months earlier. Trucks run every fri but i am not privy to know what they deliver, I just put up fabric. I too, am watching and trying to figure it out. Funny, I was just gonna post this week asking anyone if they new if the ships are coming into the ports. I remember the ups vids of la a few months ago and the driver would go down there everyday but there was nothing to pick up. I wonder if that has changed? Very informative - thank you for posting. |

From Fortnum & Mason - the Queen's favourite foodie shop [link to www.fortnumandmason.com (secure)] Seems like everywhere's about 6 weeks early on their Christmas marketing. They must be expecting a slow burn. Cash shortage? |

No holiday shipments at all, has been a noticeable disruption in the supply chain with some spots sitting for weeks or longer empty because we just can't get stuff in. Corporate is making a major push to partner up with other businesses for certain goods and services, nobody is getting raises and they are pushing like crazy to get people buying online. Most other part time employees there seem to be in agreement that most (if not all of us) will be lucky to have a job a year from now. I own my own small business which pays the bills so I am not as worried as some of them who will truly be up feces creek if that happens. Quoting: DOOMshakalaka 77193149 At the current rate our nation and world is headed we should be in a hot war with China and their American Antifa militia by that point after a full economic collapse so none of that will matter anyway. "China and their American Antifa militia" Damn straight, and we need pols admitting they are honey potted, amnesty for the blackmailed would help. |
