Chesty Puller was attending VMI in order to become a commissioned officer, but left and rashly entered as a private. Good thing he did too.

Just because she fough for the Red Army doesn't necessarily make her a Commie. Being a soldier has nothing to do with politics. Most "Commies" as you say weren't involved with the Communist Party, didn't much care for them, but fought for their country.

Just like all German army soldiers weren't Nazis.
