I realized God is not answering my prayers a long time ago. Life is brutal.
But you are not here to have an easy life, God tests us to grow and evolve to become better people.
Contentment breeds complacence.
The mystery is to remember. Faith wouldn't be called "faith" if it didn't get tested. You need to let go of the fairy tale in your head of what God is, the purpose isn't to be happy it is to be self-less. As in no self, the NOBODY. To let go of all you preconceived notions of "happiness".
Read the story of Job in the bible and then read it again.

The purpose of the Story of Job was to test Job's FAITH. Everything we love in this world is temporal, even our loved ones, our bodies, our health, our home. Study Buddhism, if that helps, to understand the process of "letting go". God was giving Job a spiritual battle and Job understood in the end. He knows the mystery and it's that you have FAITH in the spiritual not the mundane. Earthly matters DO NOT MATTER!
