Mobile here. Tropical storm force winds at the moment. Been increasing in strength the last 2 hours.

Just a reminder to the rest of the world: we get at least 5 feet of rain annually. I remember one year we got 8 feet. The elevation isn't very high but the drainage is very good.

Unlike metro Houston we didn't pave 50% of the surface area of three counties. There will be flooding but it's nothing we aren't used to. Back in '96 or '97 Hurricane Danny did just what Sally is doing. Some areas got 40+ inches in 3 days, most of it in one day. Back in '14 we had a spring cold front dump 10 inches in my back yard in 2 hours, then 5 more inches that night.

Some places are made for super heavy rain and SW Alabama is one of those places. We'll be fine.

Thanks for the reality check. I lived there when building austal shipyard. That's a lovely place to live. Especially during Mardi gras. I lived there for a year.

Austal had two of those Littoral Combat ships docked last weekend. Those things look badass. Glad you enjoyed your time here. It's laid back but just an hour away from excitement.

I lived on north royal street. Downtown. I had seafood every other night. The seafood market was in a bad area of town but I never had a problem.
The ships they produce are ones you never see on TV. They build 1 ship every 3 months with out armaments ofcourse.
