Doomsday Glacier Melting Fast, Scientists Finally Know Why | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 78334351 United States 09/15/2020 11:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If you remember basic science class from grade school, you'll also remember that water is the ONLY molecular compound that EXPANDS when in its solid form. What this means is, when water is frozen, it displaces MORE VOLUME than when it is in liquid form. Example: fill a glass 3/4 full will water. Then, add ice to fill the glass as near to the top as you can. Mark the water level. Then wait for the ice to melt. You will notice that the water level has gone down. So, how much of this polar ice is waterborne, and how much is on a land mass? Think critically, people. Don't let fear make you forgetful and stupid. |

Mark the water level. Let the ice MELT completely. Water lever will NOT RISE. Will be at the same mark. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74961497 The arctic Glaciers are already in the water, displacing the water. So when they melt, the oceans will not rise. Exactly, thanks for that. I have posted that so many times on here I am just tired of saying it over and over. But, I guess the libtards are not interested in the truth, just the fake propaganda. As I've already replied , Antarctica is land based and slide in to the ocean, Land also has water underground. Don’t forget the lakes and rivers. So basically the ice melting off the land will also have no real effect on the sea levels |

Quoting: Storm2come Located along the coast of the Amundsen Sea in West Antarctica, the enormous Pine Island and Thwaites glaciers already contribute around 5% of global sea-level rise. The survival of Thwaites has been deemed so critical that the U.S. and U.K. have launched a targeted multimillion-dollar research mission to the glacier. The loss of the glaciers could trigger the broader collapse of the West Antarctic ice sheet, which contains enough ice to eventually raise seas by about 10 feet. :seaice: [link to www.pnas.org (secure)] The new findings, published Monday(09/14/2020) in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, come from an analysis of satellite images. Concerns grow as the natural buffer system that prevents the glaciers from flowing outward rapidly is breaking down, potentially unleashing far more ice into the sea.[less than 50%] it's because of HARP or some microwave tech they are testing out that is causing this stuff...trying to justify climate change claim....it's all part of the plan |

The climate has ALWAYS been changing. They Vikings used to FARM in Greenland by gosh!! (try that today ... all you would get would be frozen seeds) If sea level change really was serious do you think that Climate Change "believer" Barack Obama would have paid $11 million dollars for a house on Martha's Vineyard that is only about 20 feet above the current sea level? Yes and Greenland had plenty of forests just around 1000 years ago and somehow it's still not warm enough for trees to start growing all over the place again. My land was a dry and warm steppe around 5000 years ago, but around 3600 years ago it turned into somehing more similar to the contemporary Amazon. 1400 years ago people around here had to gather in special camps/enclosures to survive winter thanks to heat island effect, but around 800 years ago there were vineyards all over the place. |
