11th grader arrested for threatening mass shooting or to kill

Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding a threat of violence posted to social media targeting East Lee County High School.

Detectives with the Youth Services Criminal Investigations Division identified a 16-year-old female 11th-grade student as the poster of the threat.

“I have zero tolerance for any threats of violence in our schools,” stated Sheriff Carmine Marceno. “All threats will be thoroughly investigated, and those responsible for making the threats will be arrested.”

Detectives arrested the Lee County student for the felony charge of written threat to kill and conduct mass shooting.
