A big rain band started dumping water on my house while the hurricane was still making landfall down in Corpus. And it never let up for 4 damn days straight. 50+ inches. Justme |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 78689367 United States 09/19/2020 11:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Latest track forecast has it a category 1 Sunday night off the mid-eastern TX coast but then still off the coast Wednesday closer to the coast around Houston... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78689367 ..definitely another Sally-like storm.rn off the coast Beta could round the horn off the coast but close enough to cause problems while strengthening, ending up who knows where. What a year eh?? I heard it will annihilate New Orleans as a CAT 5 Hypercane. It is projected that it will have a lower pressure than the 1935 Labor Day Hurricane (sub 900mb), will have stronger winds than Camille (190+) at landfall, Storm surge >50 feet and will dump more rain than Harvey. Please stay up to date on any and all future developments. Or it could drizzle out as a summer shower. Already looking like a fizzleburger. Not even forecasted to be a hurricane anymore. Sure, but it was only forecasted to be a hurricane in the Gulf. It was always forecasted to be a tropical storm up the coast and now inland through TX into LA. I wouldn't say it will fizzle. Too much energy. Still holding 60 mph and under 1000 millibars and it's crawling at 2 mph as of 7pm CST. The forecast before that it had stalled. |

Yes it will crawl through Texas and be close enough to the coast to pull the gulf moisture in during its natural counter-clockwise rotation. Could be another epic rain-maker for sure. |

It ended up breached anyway, but only the west part of the development got flooded. I was spared. I guess where I am is just slightly high enough to survive just about anything. But having the house next to me burn was pretty scary. Flames really high, even in the intense downpour. I guess the roof material gets super dry with the Texas heat. Justme |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 78689367 United States 09/19/2020 11:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Two updates ago - the track was split between Houston and Galveston, then closer to Galveston and now closer to Houston as Beta wobbles out in the Gulf. Landfall ~48 hours away yet. Texas should start getting the TS symptoms tomorrow sometime. Landfall is still barrier islands of Matagorda Bay. [link to www.wunderground.com (secure)] Expect the track to shift over Sunday and Monday...like Sally! |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 78689367 United States 09/19/2020 11:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 11pm update takes Beta down a bit as it approaches the coast. Expecting nothing more than 60 mph. Lots of dry air in its path. That's good news for wind, waves and surge. Rainfall may not be affected much. 2-4 foot surges at east central Texas coast. It may work out for parts of Texas that need rain and not flooding!! |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 78689367 United States 09/19/2020 11:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's certainly odd to see these last two storms in the Gulf move at only 2 mph and stall at times wobbling around. Sally made a lot of small direction changes approaching the coast. This is believed to be the result of a longer warm summer season where cold steering fronts simply are not getting down into the gulf or gulf states. You know that 'fake globally warmed climate change'. That said AC maybe you should ask Laura and Sally victims about 'fake' storms. |
